Probotector on Game Boy is basically Contra with robots—same run-and-gun chaos, just with more metal enemies. You start off with a dinky little blaster, but within minutes you're hopping over pits, dodging laser fire, and praying you find that spread shot pickup before the next wave of bots corners you.
The levels are shorter than the NES version, but somehow just as brutal—one wrong jump and you're toast. The bosses are these clunky, screen-filling machines that take way too many hits, but beating them feels legit satisfying. And yeah, it's still the kind of game where you'll die 20 times on the first stage until you memorize every enemy spawn.
If you grew up with Contra, this is a fun (and slightly janky) portable version. If you didn't? Well, good luck—this isn't the kind of game that holds your hand. You either learn the patterns or get wrecked.
