Pokémon Prism is one of those fan-made hacks that actually feels like a proper game—not just a reskin. It's built on Gold's engine, but everything's remixed: new regions, weird type combos (ever seen a Ground/Flying type?), and a bunch of Pokémon from later gens crammed into the GBC's tiny sprites. The beta's a little rough around the edges, but there's something charming about how ambitious it is.
You start in a totally new region, Naljo, with a starter that isn't the usual trio—I went with the fire-type Cubone knockoff because, well, look at it. The music's all original too, which is wild for a ROM hack. Some tracks slap harder than they have any right to.
Just don't expect it to be polished like an official release. The beta's got quirks—some moves don't work right, and the difficulty spikes randomly. But if you've played Crystal to death and want something that feels familiar yet fresh, this is worth booting up on an emulator. It's like finding a weird, secret third version of Gen 2 that never actually existed.
