Pikamon Silver is one of those solid Pokémon hacks that actually feels like a proper GBC game—not just a reskin. You start in a familiar-but-tweaked Johto region, except some of the Pokémon sprites are swapped for weird, kinda charming knockoffs. (Wait, is that a Pikachu with a sword? Sure, why not.)

The first hour feels cozy and nostalgic—running through tall grass, picking your starter (go with the fire-type, trust me), and realizing halfway to the first gym that some movesets are hilariously broken. The dialogue’s been rewritten too, so expect some surprisingly decent jokes mixed in with the usual "my Rattata is top percentage" nonsense.

It’s not perfect—some of the new sprites look like they were drawn in MS Paint—but if you’ve burned through Crystal too many times, this’ll scratch the itch. Just don’t expect it to replace the original.
