Pokemon Of The Past Dx Game

Pokémon Of The Past DX is one of those weird little fan-made GBC romhacks that somehow feels more polished than half the official releases. You start off in a familiar-but-off region with classic sprites, but then the trainer battles hit harder, the wild Pokémon have weird type combos, and suddenly you're second-guessing every move. I got wrecked by a Grass/Fire starter evolution I'd never seen before—no spoilers, but it learns Flame Wheel way too early.
The music’s all chiptune remixes of later-gen tracks, which is a nice touch, and there’s this optional dungeon early on that’s full of glitched-out MissingNo-style encounters. Not sure if that’s intentional or a happy accident, but it fits the "of the past" vibe. Bring antidotes.
It’s still a Game Boy Color game at heart, so don’t expect a total overhaul—just a solid, slightly unhinged twist on the formula. The creator clearly had fun messing with type balances.
