Pocket Sonar is one of those weird little Game Boy oddities that makes you go, "Wait, they actually made this?" It's exactly what it sounds like—a sonar simulator where you ping for objects underwater. The whole thing feels like someone took a naval training tool and crammed it into a tiny green-screened cartridge.

You start off with this basic sonar display, sending out pings and watching for blips. The manual (if you can find it) explains how to interpret the signals, but half the fun is just winging it and seeing if you accidentally detect a submarine or just a school of fish. The beeps and static somehow make it weirdly immersive, even if the graphics are just a bunch of dots and lines.

Not gonna lie, it’s niche as hell, but there’s something oddly satisfying about it once you get the hang of the controls. Definitely not for everyone, but if you’re into retro curiosities, this one’s a trip.
