Pitfall: The Lost Expedition on GBA is basically a stripped-down version of the console game, but honestly? It still nails that classic jungle explorer vibe. You're swinging on vines, dodging traps, and uncovering ancient ruins—just with chunky little sprites instead of fancy 3D models.
First thing you'll notice: the controls are surprisingly tight for a handheld port. The jumps feel snappy, and the vine-swinging actually works without being frustrating. I remember thinking the GBA wouldn’t handle it well, but they made it click. You’ll still get that "oh crap" moment when a boulder suddenly comes rolling at you, though.
It’s got that classic Pitfall mix of platforming and light puzzle-solving—find the right path, avoid the quicksand, maybe whack a few critters with your machete. Not gonna lie, the graphics are obviously simpler than the PS2 version, but the gameplay holds up. If you’re into retro handheld adventures, this one’s a solid pick.
