Penny Racers on the GBA is one of those weird little racing games that somehow sticks with you. At first glance, it's just tiny cars zipping around, but then you realize there's this whole customization system—like, you can tweak your ride's weight, tires, even the freaking suspension. I remember spending way too long in the garage before even hitting the track.
The races themselves are chaotic in the best way. You'll be swerving around hairpin turns, bumping into other cars, and praying your custom build doesn't flip over (spoiler: it will). The tracks have this toybox feel, like you're racing on a kid's bedroom floor with jumps and loops thrown in. And yeah, the graphics are simple, but there's charm in how everything moves at that frantic GBA speed.
It's not the deepest racer out there, but there's something satisfying about finally nailing the perfect setup after your third engine swap. Just don't expect realism—this is more about ridiculous fun than simulation. If you ever played with Hot Wheels as a kid, this kinda nails that energy.
