Nakayoshi Pet Series 4 - Kawaii Koneko is one of those classic Game Boy Color pet sims that feels like a time capsule from the late '90s. You get this tiny, pixel-art kitten to take care of—feeding it, playing with it, watching it grow. The animations are super simple but weirdly charming, like when it stretches or chases a ball of yarn.
At first, I thought it was just a basic Tamagotchi clone, but there’s something oddly satisfying about the routine. The controls are straightforward (it’s a Game Boy game, after all), and the whole thing has that nostalgic, slightly janky feel of early handheld titles. If you’re into retro pet games, this one’s a cute little time-waster.
You can play it on emulators now, but honestly, it hits different on an actual GBC screen.
