Nakayoshi Cooking Series 2 - Oishii Panya-san is one of those weirdly charming Game Boy Color cooking games that never left Japan. You play as a little baker running a shop, mixing ingredients, and serving customers—except everything’s in Japanese, so you’ll be guessing half the time. The pixel art is cute, though, with chubby little bread loaves and pastries bobbing around. It’s simple, but there’s something satisfying about nailing a recipe even when you don’t fully understand the instructions.
Fair warning: if you don’t know Japanese, expect a lot of trial and error. I remember burning my first batch of croissants because I misread a symbol. Still, it’s a neat little time capsule if you’re into retro food games or just want something different from the usual RPGs.
