Nakayoshi Mahjong: KabuReach is one of those GBA games that makes you wish more people knew about it. It’s got that classic mahjong feel—tiles clacking, the satisfying click when you pick one up—but with a twist where you’re gunning for this special KabuReach hand. The first time I pulled it off, I swear I felt like a genius.

The graphics are simple but charming, like most GBA titles, and the AI actually puts up a decent fight. You’ll start off thinking, "Oh, this isn’t so bad," and then suddenly the CPU drops a ridiculous move and you’re scrambling to recover. If you’ve ever played mahjong before, it’s easy to jump into, but even if you’re new, the game doesn’t leave you completely lost—just mostly lost, in that fun way where you learn by getting wrecked a few times.

Honestly, it’s a solid little time capsule of early 2000s handheld gaming. You can tell it was made by people who actually like mahjong, not just slapped together for quick cash. Still holds up if you dig retro stuff.
