Mortal Kombat 3 on SNES is still one of the rawest fighting games out there—even if the blood’s been toned down to that weird gray sweat in the 16-bit version. You pick your fighter (I always end up going back to Sub-Zero), and within seconds you’re uppercutting someone into a pit of spikes or pulling off that ridiculous Scorpion spear move.
The roster’s stacked with classics, though some of the new characters like Kabal feel a little out of place. The controls are tight, but good luck nailing fatalities without a cheat sheet—half the inputs feel like you’re trying to solve a secret code. Still, nothing beats the satisfaction of finally pulling off Reptile’s acid spit after mashing buttons for way too long.
It’s brutal, ridiculous, and somehow still holds up after all these years. Just don’t blame me when you lose track of time in versus mode.
