Metroid Super Zero Mission - Hard Edition is basically the SNES classic cranked up to 11. You still play as Samus, blasting through alien corridors and backtracking for upgrades, but everything hits harder—enemies take more shots, energy drops feel rarer, and those platforming sections? Yeah, good luck.
At first I thought it’d just be inflated health bars, but no—they tweaked enemy placements too. That first room with the zoomers? Suddenly there’s an extra one lurking where you least expect it. And good luck with Ridley this time around if you don’t stock up on missiles.
If you’ve played the original to death, this version actually makes exploration tense again. That feeling when you’re low on health and hear an enemy respawn behind you? Pure dread. Not for the faint of heart, but if you love Metroid’s world and want to suffer (in a good way), it’s weirdly satisfying.
