McDonaldland (or M.C. Kids, depending on where you played it) is one of those weirdly charming Game Boy platformers that shouldn’t work but somehow does. You play as these two kids—Mic and Mac—who get sucked into McDonaldland (yes, really) and have to chase down the Hamburglar after he swipes Ronald’s magic bag.
It’s got that classic early ‘90s licensed game energy—bright colors, floaty jumps, and levels filled with giant fries and McNugget platforms. The controls take a second to get used to, but once you figure out the timing, bouncing off clouds and flipping switches feels oddly satisfying. And yeah, it’s basically a walking McDonald’s ad, but the level design is surprisingly solid for what it is.
If you’ve got nostalgia for weird mascot platformers, this one’s a fun little time capsule.
