King of the Monsters on SNES is basically Godzilla meets pro wrestling, but with way more buildings getting wrecked. You pick one of six giant monsters—some are radioactive mutants, others look like they crawled out of a kaiju movie—and then just go absolutely nuts smashing cities while beating the scales off each other.
The controls are simple (grab, punch, atomic breath, repeat), but there’s something weirdly satisfying about body-slamming your opponent through a skyscraper. The first time I played, I picked Geon 'cause he looked like a spiky turtle, but turns out he’s slow as heck. Cyber Woo was way more my speed—dude shoots lasers from his face.
It’s not the deepest fighter, but the pixel art holds up, especially when you trigger a super move and the screen flashes like an old monster movie. Best played with a friend so you can argue about who cheated by spamming the tail whip. Just don’t expect a comeback story—this one’s pure, dumb, city-stomping fun.
