Okay, so Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer on GBA is way more fun than I expected for a tiny surfing game. You pick your surfer—obviously I went with Slater first—and then you're immediately thrown into these surprisingly decent waves for a handheld. The controls take a second to click (hold A to paddle, release to pop up), but once you get it, you're pulling off cutbacks and aerials like it's nothing.
The cool part? Each spot feels different—some have mellow rollers perfect for long carves, others have steep drops where you can launch into spins. The competition mode gets intense fast, especially when you're trying to nail a combo as the timer runs down. Graphics are solid for a GBA title too—the water actually looks like water, not just blue blobs.
It’s not perfect (why do the wipeout animations look so goofy?), but for a quick surf fix between classes or on a road trip, it totally holds up. Just don’t expect it to replace your actual beach time.
