Jelly Boy on SNES is one of those weird little platformers that sticks with you—mostly because, well, you play as a sentient blob of jelly. The first thing you’ll notice is how weirdly satisfying it feels to move; your guy wobbles, stretches, and flattens like a living gummy bear, which makes jumping over spikes or squeezing through tight spots way more fun than it should be.
The levels are bright and chaotic, full of enemies that look like they escaped from a cartoon fever dream. At first, I kept dying because I’d forget I could bounce off hazards instead of avoiding them—turns out being made of jelly has its perks. There’s something oddly charming about the way everything jiggles when you land.
It’s not the hardest SNES game out there, but it’s got enough weird ideas (and enough squishy physics) to make it worth a play if you dig offbeat platformers. Just don’t be surprised if you catch yourself grinning when your character splats against a wall and slowly peels himself off.
