Invader was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2000, a time when the handheld was becoming a home for many arcade style games. It was developed by Vicarious Visions, a studio that produced a number of titles for the platform. This game fits right into that era of straightforward, action focused experiences you could pick up and play in short bursts.

You control a small ship at the bottom of the screen, moving left and right to shoot at descending waves of alien invaders. Your main goal is to destroy every alien on the screen before they reach the bottom or overwhelm you with their fire. The core mechanics involve clearing each screen of enemies, which then advances you to the next, more challenging wave; you can also take cover behind destructible barriers that get chipped away by enemy shots. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as the invaders move faster and their formations become more complex. It feels like a constant, tense battle for survival against an ever increasing onslaught.
