Final Fantasy VI is one of those SNES classics that still holds up—even if you missed it back in the day. You start off with this weird armored girl named Terra, and before long, you're bouncing between rebels, thieves, and even a yeti (yeah, really). The world feels huge, and the characters actually have depth—like, Locke isn’t just some treasure hunter, and Celes isn’t just another soldier. They’ve got real baggage.
And Kefka? Dude’s unhinged from the jump. Most villains monologue about power; this guy just laughs and burns cities down for fun. The magicite system lets you customize your party in weird ways—I spent way too long trying to figure out which Espers worked best for each character. Also, the soundtrack slaps. That opera scene? Still gives me chills.
It’s one of those RPGs where you can tell the devs just went all out. Even the random NPCs have little stories if you bother to talk to them.
