Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu is this weird little Japan-only SNES RPG that never made it overseas. It's got this card-based battle system that feels totally different from any other DBZ game—you're not just mashing buttons to fire Kamehamehas here. Instead, you're playing energy cards to chain attacks together, which gives fights this weirdly strategic feel.
What's cool is how it covers the Saiyan and Namek sagas with that classic 16-bit Dragon Ball art style. The sprites are tiny but full of personality, and the soundtrack nails that dramatic DBZ vibe. It's janky in places (good luck figuring out some mechanics without a guide), but there's something charming about its ambition. For 1992, a card-based DBZ RPG was a pretty wild idea.
Still the only proper Dragon Ball RPG on SNES, and honestly, one of the more interesting oddities in the series.
