About Darius Force (japan)
Darius Force came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, developed by Taito. It was part of a wave of side-scrolling shooters on the system, a familiar genre for players at the time.
You pilot a Silver Hawk fighter, moving through horizontally scrolling stages filled with enemy ships and screen-filling bosses. Your main goal is to survive each aquatic-themed zone and defeat the biomechanical bosses that guard them. A key mechanic is choosing your weapon loadout before a stage begins, selecting from different combinations of forward shots, rear shots, and bombs. You also collect power-ups to strengthen your chosen weapons, and the branching stage paths let you select the order of levels you tackle.
