Play Classic Series : Ice Climber Online

Nintendo released the Classic NES Series version of Ice Climber for the Game Boy Advance in 2004. This was part of a wave of classic titles repackaged for the handheld, letting a new generation experience games from the 8-bit era without any added features or changes. It was a straightforward port of the original NES game, developed and published by Nintendo itself.

You control one of the two mountain climbers, Popo or Niki, as you ascend a series of vertical stages. Your main goal is to reach the top of each mountain by breaking through the ice blocks above you with your trusty hammer. You jump between platforms, sometimes dodging or bonking enemies like condors and yetis that try to knock you off. The screen scrolls upward as you climb, and you must be quick; if you take too long, a pesky yeti will chase you from below, forcing you to move faster. The controls feel a bit stiff, making precise jumps a constant challenge, and the game's difficulty comes from both the enemies and the sometimes awkward physics. Playing it feels like a race against the clock and your own ability to land where you intend.
