Castle Quest is one of those Game Boy gems that feels simple at first—just you, a sword, and a maze-like castle to explore. But man, those corridors get tricky fast. One wrong turn and suddenly you're backtracking past the same skeleton knights you thought you'd cleared out.
The pixel art has that classic chunky charm, and the music sticks in your head even when you're not playing. I remember getting stuck for ages on this one puzzle with moving blocks—took me three tries to realize I had to lure an enemy onto a switch. Classic 90s "figure it out yourself" design.
It's not all combat either. Half the fun is poking at suspicious-looking walls to find hidden rooms with upgrades or extra lives. Just watch out for the bats—they seem harmless until three swarm you at once. Still one of my favorite dungeon crawlers for quick sessions.
