Play Bubble Bobble : Old & New Online

I first played Bubble Bobble: Old & New on the Game Boy Advance back in 2002. It was a Taito release, a portable update of their classic arcade game that fit right in with the GBA's library of bright, quick titles. It felt like a natural fit for the handheld, a game you could pick up for a few minutes between other things.

You control one of two little dinosaurs, Bub or Bob, and your goal is to clear each single-screen room of enemies. You do this by blowing bubbles to trap them, then popping the bubbles to defeat them. The main mechanics involve navigating platforms, using the bubbles both as weapons and as temporary stepping stones to reach higher areas. You also hunt for special items that appear, like candy that gives you temporary powers or letters that spell "EXTEND" for an extra life. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up steadily as enemy patterns get more complex. It feels frantic and silly, a cheerful scramble from one screen to the next.
