Bubble Bobble Junior is the Game Boy version of the classic arcade bubble-popping chaos, but with a few twists. You still play as those adorable little dragons Bub and Bob, trapping enemies in bubbles and then smashing them—except now the levels are smaller, tighter, and honestly a bit meaner. The music’s still catchy as heck, though.
First few minutes? You’ll be hopping around, blowing bubbles at weird little monsters, and probably getting cornered because the screen’s so small. The controls feel a tiny bit stiff compared to the arcade original, but once you get used to it, there’s something satisfying about clearing a cramped level with perfect timing. And yeah, it’s Japan-only, but the gameplay’s simple enough that you don’t need to read anything.
If you’re a Bubble Bobble fan, it’s a neat little portable version—just don’t expect it to be as smooth as the arcade cabinet.
