About Brawl Brothers
Brawl Brothers came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, published by Jaleco. It was part of that wave of side-scrolling beat 'em ups that were everywhere back then, a solid entry you'd rent for a weekend with a friend.
You pick one of two brothers, Rick or Ryan, and fight through city streets and industrial zones. Your goal is to punch and kick your way through endless thugs to rescue a kidnapped scientist. The game moves screen by screen; you clear all the enemies in one area before the game lets you proceed to the next. You can pick up pipes and knives to use as weapons, and a two-player co-op mode lets you perform special throws and team-up attacks. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty gets pretty steep, especially when the screen fills with enemies. It feels straightforward and a little rough, but throwing a goon into a crowd with a friend is a simple, satisfying kind of fun.
