Bonk's Adventure came out on the Game Boy in 1992, developed by Hudson Soft. It was part of that wave of platformers that felt perfectly suited for the handheld, a colorful and compact challenge you could take anywhere. On a system filled with Mario and Sonic, Bonk offered a different kind of caveman hero.

You control Bonk, a small, strong caveman with a comically large head. Your goal is to rescue the princess from the evil King Drool, traveling through prehistoric lands screen by screen. Your primary attack is a headbutt; you can jump and smash down on enemies or bounce your head off the ground to hit foes from below. You also collect meat for health and special power-ups, like flowers that grant temporary invincibility. The game moves at a brisk pace, and some later stages require precise jumps and quick reactions. It feels satisfying to land a well-timed headbutt and see an enemy pop, creating a simple, cheerful rhythm of combat and exploration.
