About Tom & Jerry
I remember picking up Tom and Jerry for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1992. It was published by Hi Tech Expressions, a company that put out a number of licensed titles during that era. On a system known for its bright colors and smooth scrolling, this game was part of a wave of cartoon adaptations that tried to capture the spirit of the original shows.
You control Jerry the mouse, and your goal is to navigate through a large, multi-story house to find pieces of a wedding cake for a celebration. The gameplay is built on screen by screen exploration; you move from one static screen to the next, each presenting a new puzzle or obstacle. Your main way of dealing with Tom is by throwing marbles at him to stun him temporarily, and you spend a lot of time searching for keys to unlock doors blocking your progress. The game can be quite difficult, with precise jumps required and Tom patrolling areas relentlessly. It feels like a constant, careful scramble to outwit a much larger opponent.
