I remember picking up The Smurfs for the Super Nintendo back in 1994. It was published by Infogrames, and it fit right in with the colorful, side scrolling platformers that were common on the system at the time. You don't hear much about it now, but it was a solid attempt to bring the little blue characters into a video game.

You control a single Smurf, switching between Papa, Handy, and Brainy Smurf depending on the level. Your main goal is to rescue Smurfette from the clutches of Gargamel, which involves running, jumping, and climbing your way through forests, caves, and his castle. The game progresses screen by screen, and each Smurf has a special ability; Papa uses his magic to reveal hidden platforms, Handy can repair broken bridges, and Brainy reads signs for clues. The pacing is methodical, with some tricky jumps and enemy placements that can make it surprisingly difficult. Playing it feels like a slow, careful puzzle where a single mistimed leap can send you back to the start.
