Man, The Death and Return of Superman on SNES is one of those beat 'em ups that just feels like a comic book come to life. You start off smashing through waves of goons in Metropolis, throwing punches that send dudes flying through windows—classic Superman stuff. Then, of course, things get real when Doomsday shows up and, well… you know how that goes.
The sprites are chunky and colorful, and there’s something satisfying about hearing that SNES "thwack" sound when you land a punch. Flying’s a bit stiff at first, but once you get the hang of heat vision and super-speed, it clicks. And yeah, the story actually follows the comics pretty closely, which was rare for licensed games back then.
It’s not perfect—some levels drag, and the hit detection can be janky—but if you’re into Superman or just love that era of side-scrollers, it’s a solid time. Definitely better than most superhero games from the 16-bit days.
