Okay, so imagine Tetris—but with wizard duels. That’s Tetris Battle Gaiden on the SNES. You drop blocks like usual, but now you’re also slinging spells at your opponent to mess up their stack. Freeze their pieces, flip their screen upside down, or just dump a bunch of junk blocks on them. It’s chaotic in the best way.
The characters are all these weird little anime-style wizards and warriors, each with their own special attacks. I kept picking the samurai guy because his lightning strike was ridiculous, but the witch’s curse that slows everything down is brutal too. The music’s got that classic SNES charm—peppy, slightly cheesy, and weirdly intense when you’re down to your last few lines.
It’s still Tetris at heart, but the spells add this layer of panic where you’re scrambling to clear lines while dodging whatever nonsense your friend just threw at you. Losing because someone turned your blocks invisible feels unfair right up until you do it to them. This is the version you break out when regular Tetris isn’t dramatic enough.
