Ah, Tecmo Super Bowl 2—basically the SNES football game you played if you wanted something juuust a little fancier than the original. Same addictive arcade-style football, same real NFL teams (with those hilariously pixelated player faces), but now with a slightly tilted camera angle that makes the field feel bigger. The sprites got an upgrade too—players actually look like they’re running instead of sliding across the turf.
They threw in some fun little tricks this time, like fake punts (good luck pulling those off without getting wrecked) and audibles to mess with your buddy’s head in multiplayer. Oh, and the playbooks? Way deeper. I spent way too much time figuring out which of the new plays actually worked instead of just spamming Bo Jackson every down. The auto-scheduling thing was neat—if you sucked last season, you’d get easier matchups next time. Not that it helped me much.
Still feels like Tecmo football at its core, just with a few extra layers of polish. If you’ve got nostalgia for the first one, this is basically that but with more ways to embarrass your friends.
