Taikou Risshiden on SNES is one of those deep, slow-burn strategy games where you actually feel like a feudal lord trying to keep your clan from collapsing. You start by picking your daimyo—some have it way easier than others—and then it's all about balancing gold, food, and not ticking off the wrong warlords.
The diplomacy system is surprisingly nuanced for a 16-bit game. One wrong move and suddenly three neighboring clans are marching on your rice fields. And don’t even get me started on managing retainers—some of them have serious attitude problems.
Combat’s a mix of troop positioning and morale checks, not just brute force. I lost my first few battles because I didn’t realize terrain actually matters. Classic SNES depth, really. If you’re into historical sims with actual consequences for your choices, this one’s still worth digging up.
