About Toca World Touring Cars (e)(mode7)
TOCA World Touring Cars came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by Codemasters. It was part of a wave of racing games trying to bring a more serious driving feel to the handheld, a time when squeezing 3D-style racing onto the small screen was still a technical challenge.
You control a touring car, competing in a full championship season across various international tracks. The main goal is to win races and secure the championship title. The game uses a Mode 7-style scaling effect to create the illusion of a 3D track, and you must manage your car's wear and fuel load during longer races, making pit stops a strategic necessity. The racing is fast and requires clean driving, as contact with walls or other cars can easily spin you out. It feels like a focused, technical challenge where every lap matters.
