So, TOCA World Touring Cars on the GBA—it's basically a stripped-down but surprisingly solid racing sim for a handheld. You get a bunch of real-world touring cars (think BMWs, Hondas, that sort of thing) and tracks that actually feel like they have some weight to them, which is impressive for the little cartridge.
First thing you notice? The Mode7 graphics try their best to fake a 3D effect, and honestly, it kinda works once you get used to it. The handling’s a bit slidey at first—took me a few races to stop fishtailing into every corner—but once it clicks, weaving through traffic feels weirdly satisfying. Not as deep as the console TOCA games, but for quick races between bus stops, it does the job.
Also, no career mode here—just pick a car, pick a track, and go. Simple, but sometimes that’s all you need.
