Super Wrestle Angels is this weird, kinda charming mix of wrestling and card battles—like if someone mashed together a fighting game and a deckbuilder. You pick a wrestler (all women, by the way, which was pretty rare for '94), and then it’s this turn-based thing where you play cards to pull off moves. The art’s got that classic SNES pixel charm, and the moves get ridiculous fast—think suplexes, dropkicks, and some over-the-top special attacks.
At first, I thought the card system would feel clunky, but it actually works? You’ve got to manage stamina and pick the right moves at the right time, or you’ll whiff hard. Some wrestlers are straight-up bruisers, others play more defensive—took me a few matches to figure out who clicked. Also, the AI doesn’t mess around; they’ll punish you for spamming the same move over and over.
It’s definitely niche, but if you’re into retro wrestling games or just want something different from the usual SNES lineup, it’s a fun little deep cut. The soundtrack’s got some bangers too.
