Super Super Mario Land Game

Super Mario Land on the Game Boy is one of those weird, stripped-down Mario adventures that somehow still feels like a proper Mario game—just squished into a tiny screen. You’ve got the usual running, jumping, and stomping on Goombas, but with this weird charm where everything’s a little off—like the enemies are these oddball creatures instead of the usual Koopas. The levels are short and punchy, perfect for quick plays, and the music? That bouncy main theme gets stuck in your head for days.
It’s not as polished as the NES games, but there’s something about the janky physics and weird power-ups (who thought a bouncing Super Ball was a good idea?) that makes it weirdly fun. You’ll blast through it in an hour or two, but it’s a solid little time capsule of early handheld Mario.
