Super SWIV on SNES is one of those shooters that feels like it’s actively trying to murder you—in the best way possible. You start off in a little helicopter (or a jeep, if you pick the ground mission), and within seconds, the screen’s packed with bullets, tanks, and planes gunning for you. The controls are tight, though, so at least you’ve got a fighting chance.
What I love is how it doesn’t hold your hand. No regenerating health here—just a single life bar and the occasional power-up that feels like a miracle when you’re barely hanging on. The music’s this frantic, synth-heavy soundtrack that somehow makes dodging a wall of missiles even more intense. And those boss fights? Huge, screen-filling monstrosities that take forever to whittle down.
It’s punishing, yeah, but in that classic arcade way where you keep muttering "okay, one more try" at 2 AM. If you’ve got a soft spot for ’90s shooters that don’t pull punches, this one’s worth dusting off the SNES for.
