Super Puyo Puyo Tsuu is the SNES sequel to the original Puyo Puyo, and honestly, it’s where the series really hit its stride. You’ve still got those little blobby Puyos dropping down, matching colors to clear them, but now there’s way more strategy—chains feel smoother to set up, and the garbage Puyo mechanics got a serious upgrade. The AI opponents actually put up a fight this time, too.
First thing you’ll notice? The colors pop way more than the first game, and the animations when you pull off a big combo are ridiculously satisfying. I remember getting wrecked by the CPU at first because I kept forgetting about the new offset drop rule—took me a few matches to adjust. The music’s still that same weirdly catchy mix of cheerful and frantic, perfect for zoning out while you plan your next move.
If you’ve ever played Tetris Attack or Dr. Mario, this is like that but with way more chaos when things start snowballing. Still holds up today.
