If you thought you knew Super Metroid inside out, this fan-made redesign will knock you sideways. Same eerie atmosphere, same Samus, but everything’s been shuffled—weapons pop up in different spots, enemies hit harder, and some rooms feel like they’re actively messing with you. (That first Etecoon pit? Yeah, good luck.)
It’s still Zebes, just… meaner. You’ll recognize chunks of the original map, but suddenly there’s a new path where a bombable floor used to be, or a power-up hidden behind some devious platforming. The tweaks make it feel like playing for the first time again—except now you’re paranoid because nothing’s where your muscle memory says it should be.
Fair warning: this isn’t for first-timers. The difficulty’s cranked up, and some boss fights feel like they’re laughing at you. But if you’ve 100%’d the original and need that fresh rush of "what the hell is behind THIS door?", it’s a brutal, brilliant love letter to Metroid fans.
