Super Metroid 'Hack' is one of those fan mods that actually makes the original SNES classic feel new again. You still start in that eerie, quiet ship—same Samus, same planet Zebes—but then the changes start creeping in. Some rooms are rearranged, power-ups pop up where they shouldn’t, and suddenly you’re backtracking through areas you thought you knew, only to find a hidden path that wasn’t there before.
The puzzles are mean in the best way—like when you bomb-jump your way up a shaft, thinking you’ve broken the sequence, only to realize the modder wanted you to do that. And the boss fights? Let’s just say Ridley’s even more of a nightmare now. If you’ve played Super Metroid a dozen times and still crave that first-time tension, this hack’s got your back.
Just don’t blame me when you get lost in Maridia for the third hour straight.
