About Super High Impact
Super High Impact arrived on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, published by Midway Games. It was part of that early wave of SNES sports titles, a time when developers were figuring out how to translate arcade football to a home console. The game stood out for its exaggerated style, a clear attempt to capture the energy of its arcade roots on the new 16-bit hardware.
You control a team of seven on seven football players, moving them down the field one screen at a time. The main goal is to score touchdowns by either running the ball in or completing passes. Its signature mechanics are the big, satisfying tackles that fill the screen with impact stars and the ability to launch long, high-arcing passes. The game moves quickly, with a constant back and forth that keeps you engaged, though the computer opponents can put up a tough fight.
