Ever played Advance Wars? This is basically its grandpa—Super Famicom Wars, a Japan-only SNES release that never made it overseas. It’s got that same addictive turn-based strategy vibe, just with chunky 16-bit sprites and way fewer tutorials (good luck figuring out some mechanics without a guide).
You’ve got your infantry, tanks, and planes duking it out on grid-based maps, capturing cities for cash, and trying not to get your HQ wrecked. The Satellaview version means it was originally broadcasted in chunks, which is kinda wild to think about now. The AI’s not too brutal, but those fog-of-war missions? Yeah, they’ll sneak up on you.
If you’re into retro strategy games, this one’s a neat piece of history—just don’t expect the polish of the GBA games.
