Super Double Dragon on SNES is one of those beat 'em ups that just feels right—the punches land with a satisfying thud, and the enemies go flying in that exaggerated arc only 90s games could pull off. You start off with basic punches and kicks, but pretty soon you're pulling off spinning backfists and knee drops like a pro.
The sprites are chunky in the best way, and the soundtrack has that gritty synth vibe that makes every alleyway brawl feel like the climax of a martial arts movie. I remember getting stuck on the third stage the first time because those knife-throwing guys don’t mess around—took me a few tries to figure out the timing.
It’s not as flashy as some later brawlers, but there’s something about the weight of the combat that keeps it fun. Just don’t expect to button-mash your way through; this one rewards actual strategy. And yeah, the two-player co-op is where it really shines.
