About Super Bikkuriman
Super Bikkuriman came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, developed by BEC Co., Ltd. It was part of that wave of Japanese action-platformers that filled the console's library, a game based on a popular anime and chocolate sticker promotion. You don't hear much about it now, but it was a solid, colorful entry on the platform.
You control a young hero, exploring the world screen by screen in a sidescrolling fashion. Your main goal is to rescue the seven captured Bikkuriman angels from various themed worlds. You use a sword for close combat and can find a bow for ranged attacks, which is helpful for dealing with enemies on higher platforms. The game involves a lot of straightforward platforming and defeating enemies to open up new paths. The pacing is methodical, and some of the later stages can get quite difficult, demanding precise jumps and careful enemy management. It feels like a competent, if sometimes challenging, journey through a bright and varied cartoon world.
