Street Combat is one of those weird SNES fighting games that got a total makeover for the US market—originally it was a Ranma 1/2 brawler in Japan, but here it’s just… some guys punching each other. The moves are basic, the characters are forgettable, and the whole thing feels like a budget version of Street Fighter II. You’ve got your usual punches, kicks, and a couple of special moves if you mash the buttons right, but nothing really stands out.
Still, there’s something oddly charming about how generic it is. The backgrounds are bland, the music’s forgettable, and the announcer sounds like he’s half-asleep. If you’re into obscure 90s fighting games, it’s a weird little time capsule—just don’t expect it to hold your attention for long. I played it once for the novelty and never really went back.
