Okay, so Stargate on SNES is basically what happens when someone took the movie’s wild sci-fi concept and crammed it into a 16-bit action platformer. You hop through the gate, land on these weird alien planets, and immediately start blasting lizard guys with a pulse rifle. The sprites are chunky in that classic SNES way—lots of purples and blues in the backgrounds, which actually works for the whole "alien world" vibe.
At first, I thought it’d just be a generic shooter, but there’s some sneaky depth here. You’ve got different weapons to swap between, and some levels force you to backtrack a little to unlock gates. The music’s got that early ‘90s synth thing going on—not quite as memorable as, say, Contra 3, but it fits.
If you’re into retro sci-fi or just love that era of SNES games where everything was either a space marine or a dinosaur, this one’s a solid time capsule. Just don’t expect a deep story—it’s more about shooting weird aliens and pretending your couch is a spaceship.
