Speedball on the Sega Master System is basically handball meets hockey in a cyberpunk arena where elbows are just as important as goals. You start off with this clunky little team of armored goons, and within seconds you're smashing into opponents, ricocheting the ball off walls, and occasionally scoring by accident. The controls take a second to click—hold the button to charge your throw, tap it quick for a pass—but once it does, you’ll be nailing bank shots off the ceiling like a pro.

What I love is how chaotic it gets in two-player mode. My friend always picks the Bruisers because they hit harder, but I swear the Swift team’s speed makes up for it. The metallic clang when you nail a perfect shot never gets old, even if the referee (who may or may not be bribable) occasionally calls fouls on you for breathing too aggressively. It’s one of those games where you’ll lose an hour arguing over rematches without realizing it.

Also, the industrial synth soundtrack somehow makes scoring feel like you’re overthrowing a dystopian corporation. Absolute masterpiece of ’80s jank.
