Space Invaders on GBA is exactly what it sounds like—that classic arcade shooter, but now you can take it with you. The aliens still march down in those neat little rows, and your little laser cannon still feels just as satisfying to fire. I love how they kept the original’s simplicity—no fancy gimmicks, just you, a grid of pixelated invaders, and that creeping panic as they get closer.
What surprised me was how well it plays on the GBA. The controls are tight, and the screen’s small enough that you don’t lose track of incoming shots. I’ve lost more than a few games because I got greedy going for that last alien in the corner. The sound effects are pure nostalgia too—that deep, ominous marching noise as the invaders descend never gets old.
If you’ve played the original, you know what you’re getting into. If you haven’t, it’s a perfect way to experience one of gaming’s simplest, most satisfying loops. Just don’t blame me when you lose track of time trying to beat your high score.
