Space Ace on SNES is one of those weird, janky-but-charming FMV games from the '90s where you mash buttons to dodge obstacles in pre-rendered space scenes. The animation's choppy by today's standards, but there's something oddly satisfying about barely surviving a laser barrage by spamming the A button at just the right moment.
First time I played, I got wrecked by the asteroid field because I kept mistiming my dodges—turns out you gotta anticipate the cuts in the footage, not just react. The pixel art between the FMV bits actually holds up pretty well, especially the alien designs. That three-eyed bounty hunter still creeps me out.
It's definitely more of a nostalgia trip than a tight gameplay experience, but if you're into retro oddities or just want to see what passed for "interactive movies" back then, it's a fun time capsule. Just don't expect deep mechanics—this is all about cheesy space opera vibes and quick reflexes.
