SeaQuest DSV on SNES is one of those weirdly specific licensed games that somehow works. You pilot this futuristic submarine through dark ocean trenches, dodging mines and blasting aggressive sea creatures—some of which look like they escaped from a sci-fi B-movie. The controls take a minute to get used to (why does reverse thrust feel so sluggish?), but once you’re cruising, there’s something oddly satisfying about navigating those tight underwater caves.

It’s not all combat, though. You’ll rescue stranded divers, hunt for hidden upgrades, and occasionally deal with clunky dialogue scenes ripped straight from the TV show. The pixel art holds up surprisingly well—those jellyfish enemies still creep me out when they float into view. Just don’t expect deep storytelling; this is pure 90s "shoot first, ask questions later" energy with a submarine.

If you’ve got nostalgia for the era or just love underwater levels in games, it’s worth a dive. Just watch out for the electric eels—they’re jerks.
