About Rokudenashi Blues - Taiketsu! Tokyo Shitennou (japan)

Rokudenashi Blues: Taiketsu! Tokyo Shitennou came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, a time when the system was full of games based on popular manga and anime. It was developed by BEC and published by Toei Animation, fitting right into that trend of adapting existing stories into interactive brawlers. You don't see many people talk about it now, but it was another one of those licensed titles trying to capture a specific audience.

You control Maeda, a high school delinquent, as you walk through side scrolling city streets and schoolyards. The main goal is to fight your way to the top by defeating the four ruling gangs of Tokyo. Your primary actions are punching and kicking, but you can also pick up weapons like bats or pipes that are lying around. The game progresses screen by screen, with new thugs appearing as soon as you clear the last group. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty can feel unforgiving as enemies gang up on you quickly. It feels like a straightforward, sometimes clumsy, street brawl from start to finish.
